There is also financial assistance available in some cases and many courses are offered on a part-time or flexible basis. Even full-time courses may only mean 15 hours study time in college per week.

The five colleges of East Lancashire, with the support of UCLan and Lancaster University, have combined forces to promote university education in East Lancashire. Accrington & Rossendale College, Blackburn College, Burnley College, Nelson & Colne College and St. Mary’s College together offer hundreds of university level courses and professional qualifications right now, locally, in a wide range of subjects.
